Madelyn’s research focuses on the rapid expansion of critical data center infrastructure and its attendant environmental, sociopolitical, and economic impacts.

Her recently completed dissertation work—“Futuring the Cloud”—is an ethnographic study of the impacts of data center expansion in the Northern Virginia region, USA.
